Board Members

Paul Roalsvig, President.  Elected 2013 • Term Expires 2018
I grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo in a bilingual household and attended local universities, earning my Bachelor’s degree at Buffalo State College, a Master’s degree in History from the University of Buffalo, and my law degree from University of Buffalo Law School.
I am married to Alex Roalsvig, (formerly Alexandra Verner) who everyone knows is the Director of Parks and Recreation for Long Lake.  We have 2 children, who both attend Long Lake Central School:  Our son Leif who is 15, and our daughter Abbie who is 11.   As a parent in the District, I am firmly committed to ensuring that our town’s children have the best education possible.
My law practice is located here in Long Lake and is a general one, which means I handle everything from real estate closings and family law to criminal cases and bankruptcy matters.
I trace my love of cross-country skiing and ice skating back to my Scandinavian heritage.  I also enjoy strumming my guitar while singing rock and roll classics.  I have even written and recorded some original songs (under the performing moniker of “Yod Crewsy”).  After moving to Long Lake, I caught the acting bug, and I’ve had fun appearing in several locally-staged musicals, plays, and variety shows.
I steadfastly believe that Long Lake provides a superb educational environment to raise our children, and I look forward to working with fellow BOE Members, our School Superintendent, and our community members to ensure that the Long Lake School maintains its academic excellence and continues to stay a central and vital part of our town and community.

Christine Campeau, Vice President.  Elected 2012 • Term Expires 2017
I grew up in the true north country on a dairy farm in the small town of Chateaugay, close to the Canadian border.  I attended SUNY Potsdam for my undergraduate work and more recently completed an MA in Museum Education and Interpretation through Skidmore College.    For more than 18 years, I have had the privilege of working at the Adirondack Museum, currently as the School Programs Manager & Educator.  This position takes me to schools throughout the region, bringing enrichment programs to classrooms, and allows me to welcome students to our beautiful campus to appreciate the rich history for the Adirondacks.
My work with P-12 puts me in contact with many teachers, and I am proud to say that LLCS has some of the very best.  I am a strong proponent of place-based learning and believe there is no better place to practice it than right here in the heart of the Adirondacks.
I live at the top of Endion with my partner Tom and our beloved cats.  We enjoy sailing on Long Lake and spltting massive piles of firewood.

Alexandria Harris.  Elected 2015 • Term Expires 2020
I have been a Long Lake resident for 15 years. After graduating from LLCS in 2007, I matriculated at St. Lawrence University, where was involved in the Advocates program and the theater department. I graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa in December 2010 with a Bachelor’s in History and a 7-12 Social Studies teaching certificate. I then completed my Master’s, with honors, in Curriculum and Instruction at SUNY Potsdam.
While completing my Master’s, I worked in the district as a Teaching Assistant. I then helped run the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts for three years.  After the birth of my daughter, I resigned my position as Executive Director to stay at home.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking and doing home improvement projects with my husband.
I believe that Long Lake Central School is the cornerstone of our community. I look forward to working with the school and community to ensure the best possible education for our students.

Brian Penrose.  Elected 2015 to complete Lori Hosley's term • Term Expires 2016

Fred Short.  Elected 2014 • Term Expires 2019
Mr. Short lives in Long Lake where he owns a landscaping and property management business and is a real estate agent. The heart of Mr. Short’s professional career was spent as an educator and athletic coach. He spent the majority of his 36 years of teaching experience with the Tupper Lake Central School District, where he taught computer science and math, and coached baseball, soccer, and basketball. Mr. Short also spent time teaching at Long Lake Central School, St. Lawrence Central, and the Adirondack Mountain School. He is a proud graduate of Long Lake Central School and SUNY Potsdam, and he feels lucky to call a beautiful place like Long Lake his home. He has three children, including Noelle Short, who is the 7-12 English Language Arts teacher at LLCS.
